The Musical Instruments of the School Band

Our school district and a nearby university have joined forces to provide afterschool music instruction for a newly started 6th grade beginning band. Students work with instructors three times a week, playing on donated instruments, since the school can't afford to purchase instruments at this time. There is an anonymous donor that has donated $20,000 to purchase musical instruments to get the new band off to a good start. In order to have a balanced band, the instruments purchased must include all four instrument families and the donor has requested that the 7th and 8th-grade music appreciation classes choose the instruments to purchase.
