Everyone has a favorite planet in mind it could be Earth, Saturn, Neptune, etc... But, mines however is Uranus; which is the seventh planet way from the sun. The person whom discovered was William Herschel, an English astronomer and composer, in March 1781 just by using a home-made telescope. This planet was named after the Greek god Uranus, who in mythology ruled the heavens. Uranus is the third largest planet in the Solar System; the diameter (width) 51,118 kilometers (31,763 miles). It takes up to over 84 years on Earth for Uranus to orbit the sun; this is because Uranus is so far away from the Sun (2,869,328,000 kilometers/1,740,200,000 miles away) meaning it has the greater distance to travel and it moves in such a slow speed because of the Sun's weaker pull of gravity.

During this lesson students will work in groups of 4 researching their favorite planet. After, gathering all your information put it in a brief report. Explaining what you've learn from each other and writing interesting facts about their planets.
