Have you ever wondered why the continents are where they are?  or what causes the magnificent yet dangerous phenomenon volcano, and why the Earth shakes so violently in some places across the globe?  Or perhaps you have asked the question:  why is the Mount Everest so high?  Well, all of these questions and more will be answered by the end of this topic 'plate tectonics'.  


 Plate Tectonics is the study of the movement of plates on the Earth's surface relative to each other as a result of convectional currents within the Earth's interior.  In today's lesson you will be introduced to the theory of plate tectonics and learn more about the interesting History of the original layout of the continents compared to what they look like presently.  You will also learn about the different theories behind this phenomenon and the various evidences that are presented as proof for the occurrence of this phenomenon.
