Short-Peripheral Venous Access: Knowledge is the first step to success
Introduction
Surgical oncology patients will require venous access prior to going into the operating room. There are several different types of accesses: peripheral or central. This WebQuest will provide you with best practice guidelines as well as videos and websites to increase your knowledge and provide a foundation prior to demonstrating skills and competency in peripheral I.V. insertion. Your competency evaluation will consist of participation in this WebQuest, including successful completion of a pre-test and post-test, successful completion of a skills lab, and 3-5 successful I.V. starts on patients.
