Introduction

How can you have your students using Internet resources rather than looking looking for them?

The Internet has become an integral part of the learning environment in the 21st century, but how do we keep our focus on our educational goals rather than getting tangled up in the "web" of information out there?  A WebQuest provides a structure for you to organize a unit or lesson and creating one is easier than you think!

What to include in the Introduction section of a WebQuest?

The introduction should be written with the student as the intended audience. Write a short paragraph here to introduce the activity or lesson to the students. If there is a role or scenario involved (e.g., "You are a detective trying to identify the mysterious poet.") then here is where you'll set the stage. If there's no motivational intro like that, use this section to provide a short advance organizer or overview. Remember that the purpose of this section is to both prepare and hook the reader.

It is also in this section that you'll communicate the Big Question (Inquiry Question, Essential Question, Guiding Question) that the whole WebQuest is centered around.
