Fallout - 6th Grade

What is a bomb shelter?  Why would anyone build one?  How many people can fit inside of a bomb shelter?  What was the Cold War?  What is an atomic bomb?  What was life like in 1962 in the USA?  Who is Scott Porter?   For the next two weeks we will be reading Fallout by Todd Strasser.  Fallout is a book with real historical events that are embedded with fictional (fake) details and characters.  Not only will you find answers to all the questions above but you will get to know Scott and the people he was closest to.  You will be reading in class as a group and reading at home each night while we tackle some tasks as journalists and poets.
