Introduction

In pre-contact Hawaii, the native Hawaiian people worshiped many different gods and goddesses. Mythological stories of these deities were handed down generation to generation, through oral tradition. These mo'olelo were told to explain many different elements in nature, including the creation of the Hawaiian archipelago. Many of these stories of old are based off some truths. Artistic renditions of these stories are commonly found in museums in order to preserve the culture of the ancient Hawaiian people.

The Hawaiian Mythological Museum is looking for local artists to create a new exhibit that showcases the creation of the Hawaiian Islands. Your exhibit must depict a creation scene or deity from a Hawaiian creation mo'olelo. Are you up to the challenge?
