Have you ever wondered how the Thanksgiving tradition started?  We are going to be studying the two groups of people who participated in the "First Thanksgiving," the Wampanoags and the Pilgrims.  The Wampanoags (pronounced wamp-ah-nog where wamp rhymes with stomp) were the Native American group living in the Massachusetts area before any Europeans came to North America.  The Pilgrims were the group of Europeans who came to settle in America on the Mayflower that landed in Plymouth.
