Introduction
Learning a language is just like learning the piano. In Taiwan, we spend most of our time memorizing grammar rules and vocabulary in order to get good grades on tests, but after some many years of hard work, we still cannot speak English! Don't you think it's just like memorizing all the notes and theories about music, but when I put you in front of a real piano, you don't know what to do with it?
So, in this class, you won't here me speaking Chinese again, and of course, this rule applies to you, too. When being asked to answer or discuss questions, I hope you can try to speak English. Feeling the pressure already? Well, don't be. I'll present loads of interesting videos, like funny commercials, different English accents or Jeremy Lin's highlights, and you'll have to rely on your listening comprehension to get the main idea. As long as you are interested in learning English in a much more fun way, you've so welcome to sigh up for this class.
At the end of this semester, you're going to be divided into groups of four or five, and you get to select your favorite and introduce it to the whole class, of course in English. Take on the challenge and brush up on your English speaking skills right now!
