Time Detective Teams:

Your mission is to discover the true identity of "William Shakespeare" by investigating the above suspects from the following websites. Each detective within the team must choose three of the websites to research (detectives are not allowed to research the same website) and take detailed notes on their findings to present to the entire team.

Once the investigation is complete, the team will collect all the evidence to debate the many different theories and collectively decide "whodunnit". Remember, theories are not fact - you must try to locate evidence: birth certificates, deeds, legal documents, references, individual testimonies, quotes, clues in the writings, death certificates, etc.

Team conclusions will be presented to the entire agency for rebuttal.  Remember, other Time Detective teams may disagree with the team's choice... so be prepared to defend your findings.

Individually, each detective will then decide if they agree or disagree with the team's conclusion by writing their own hypothesis of the case.  Present all theories within the written "closed case" file, but argue specifically that "Shakespeare's true identity was...".  Remember to cite all resources and reference materials.

The future of Theatre History depends on you!
