Cell Phone: Is it a necessity at school?

The use of cell phones have become a big issue especially in schools. There are many controversies because many parents feel that their children should be allowed to bring them for safety purposes. Some teachers argue that they are very distracting but some argue that they are effective tools for learning in the classrooms. Other schools in US are trying to prevent the threat of cheating through text messaging and other methods by disallowing them in schools. In Malaysia, we are facing the same issue too! What do you think? Should Cell Phones Be Allowed In The Classroom?
