European Day of Languages



The European Day of Languages is 26 September. It was proclaimed by the Council of Europe and was first held in 2001 as part of European Year of languages. Hundreds of events were organised, reaching millions of people in 45 countries. The aim of this day is to promote cultural and linguistic diversity and to encourage people schoolchildren and adults to learn languages.
