WebQuest
Conducting Research: Fact or Opinion?
Introduction
How many times have you searched the internet to find an answer to a question only to discover TONS of answers...all of which are different? How can you tell which answer is right? Which websites do you trust? Understanding the difference between fact and opinion, reliable and unreliable sources, and being able to identify websites that may serve as good sources is an important skill for you to learn.
Throughout your high school career, you will be asked to research many different topics. This activity will focus on scientific topics related to biology. However, you can use the information that you learn in all of your classes! On this WebQuest journey, we'll learn how to distinguish between facts and opinions, identify reliable sources, and cite sources properly using APA format (note: you should always check to see which citation method your individual teachers require...in science we use APA, but in English you may use a different method, such as MLA). Be sure to take the time to actually LEARN and remember the information provided in this WebQuest. You will use it over and over and over and over....(you get the idea!).
