Copyright: What is it and why should I care?

Welcome student teachers! Congratulations! You have gathered enough information to create your multimedia presentation. For this project you will use the online slide presentation tool called photopeach.

Requirements for your project:

You are creating a digital presentation to teach your �students� about copyright laws. In your presentation, you must address and answer the following questions:

� What is copyright?

� Why are copyright laws important?

� How should you cite your source?

� What does it mean to cite your source when you are doing research?

� What are some important things that you think kids should know about copyright?(have at least two)

� What should students know about downloading and copying pictures online?

For your slides you may use any clipart from Microsoft Office and Pixie 2. You may use any online clipart that is copyright free. (meaning the creator stated that you can use the pictures without asking) A good site for free clip is on http://www.pppst.com/clipart.html You may not use ANY COPYRIGHTED IMAGE so you can�t just don�t a google images search. If you use an image from the Internet for this presentation, you must read the copyright restrictions to see if you are allowed to use it.

� All images taken from the Internet must be cited on the end slide of your presentation as follows:

Author. Title of web page. Web page address Copyright year.

Make your presentation interesting. Be creative!
