Rubric

# Beginning Developing Very Good Examplary Score
Passing/Digging Attempts to pass with forearms or hands but the ball does not go to the target (setter). Setter must chase down the ball or call for help with the second contact. Does of good job of getting behind the ball to make the pass, setter makes adjustments and chases ball but does not need help to make the second contact. Gets the body behind the ball, shoulders facing target and makes a pass where the setter takes minimum steps and can set 2 out of the 3 hitters. Makes a pass that the setter can set all 3 positions with little to no adjustment. 100
Setting Is able to get the arms up and put up a high ball that allows the hitter plenty of time to make the attack. Is able to adjust to the hitter, making it higher or lower, slower or faster, for the hitter to adjust better. Is able to see the hitter and put up a ball to meet them while in the air and the hitter not having to adjust their approach whatsoever. Is able to read the defense and trick them by setting a hitter they were not prepared to block or defend. Setter is also able to adjust to the hitter with the hitter making no adjustments to the set 100
Attacking Footwork may need work, but has the concept down. Hitter is able to snap with their wrists to hit the ball downwards. Footwork has improved, hitter learns to use their arms when approaching and keeps that elbow up. Hitter is able to hit multiple sets. Always keeping that elbow up and making very little mistakes and errors. Makes little to no errors. Hitter can hit multiple sets successfully. Keeping that elbow up while leaning into a set for a more powerful swing. 100
Blocking Does a good job of jumping straight up. May drift a little. Hands are not held strong enough to block entirely. Little drifting when jumping. Hands are spread out to cover more area. Getting the steps down and able to move across the net without touching the net. Little to no drifting while jumping. Hands are spread out to cover a lot of area. Able to move faster across the net. Pikes while jumps. No drifting. Gets a touch on a high percentage of attacks. Moves across the net successfully. Sets a good block which allows the middle to meet and not have to adjust. 100
