TASK #1: Scientific Perspective

  • The completed Worksheet Questionnaire will be reviewed and graded accordingly.  Your grade will be determined if the answers are correct and if writing and wording of answers are easy to read and understand. (2 points each = 20 points total).
  • The Map of the Hawaiian Islands that you will draw will be graded by how accurate you are able to label all eight of the major Hawaiian Islands and their volcanoes. (1 point per drawn and correctly labeled island, 1 point for drawn volcanoes, 1 point for labeling volcanoes = 10 points total).

TASK #2: Hawaiian Mythological Perspective
  • The comparing and contrasting of the Hawaiian myths to the hot spot theory will be graded by your ability to identify the similarities and differences on the Venn diagram provided (or one that you would create on your own). You must accurately identify at least 3 examples of similarities and 3 examples of differences. (10 points for 3 differences-Hawaiian Myths, 10 points for 3 similarities between Hawaiian Myths & Hotspot Theory, 10 points for 3 differences-Hotspot Theory = 30 points total).

TASK #3: Famous Hawaiian Landmarks
  • The brochure that you will create within your team will be graded as a group grade.  Your grade will be based on the requirements listed below that must be included in the brochure itself. (40 total points, see below)
  1. Common name and Hawaiian name of the landmark (10 points)
  2. Drawing of the landmark (10 points)
  3. Scientific view of its creation (10 points)
  4. Hawaiian mythological view of its creation (10 points)
