Objectives:

Content:
The human digestive system consists of the gastrointestinal tract plus the accessory organs of digestion (the tongue, salivary glands, pancreas, liver, and gallbladder). Digestion involves the breakdown of food into smaller and smaller components, until they can be absorbed and assimilated into the body.

Procedures:
1. After watching a video about the digestive system students will identify the topic of the lesson. A discussion will take place between teacher and students about what they think the digestive system is then a general definition will be given to the class.
2. Students will be placed into groups of four. Each group will be given a site to visit and research on assigned sections of the digestive system.
3. Groups will be given blank papers and pencils for note taking and a tablet to use to visit their assigned website.
4. Groups will work cooperatively to complete the task in a timely manner. Each group will have a scriber, a reader, an illustrator, and a timekeeper. They will have a 30-minute period to research your sites and complete your presentation for the class.
5. Presentations by groups will take place.
Evaluation: After presentations a worksheet will be given on the digestive system. Worksheet should be done individually.
