The Wizardry of Mentoring

Dorothy had a mentor who led her through a path where she discovered new information and knowledge.  She experienced things that she never imagined, and found her way home. Throughout the process, there were some bumps and unexpected events.  Through using evidence-based mentoring techniques, Socratic questioning and methods, such as story-telling, metaphors, managing emotions, and including her social supports in the mentoring process, the Wizard was an effective and empathetic mentor.  By considering the person who you mentor, paying attention to his or her learning needs, learning preferences, and emotional needs, you will also be an effective and empathetic mentor.  Good luck, and have fun!
