Foundations for Teaching and Learning ECE 5001

Conclusion

The influential people like Comenius, Locke, Montessori, and Piaget, have paved the way for educators like myself, and all the teachers today, in that they taught us to teach our children with authentic, and natural practices, which develop through the child. Other influential past educators have other practices and beliefs which work for teachers as well. We must not disregard our past educators even if we do not believe in their teachings. This discussion on my webquest focuses on the above four individuals and their beliefs, as I feel my way of teaching is similar in one form or another to all of them. The fact that the child discovers learning through centers in a classroom, or observations being made by teachers, shows the direct influence in contemporary times that these particular four have shown us from the past. Child development is significant in the way the child ends up later on in years to come. Starting education early displays good choices for children in that education is a positive influence for the future of our little ones.
In the future, it may be a good idea to study the past beliefs in teaching by individuals like the above mentioned, because a lot of the ways of teaching still exist today. As a teacher, one can put a current spin on old ideas from the past to bring forth positive attributes today.
