Mountains around the world



Know you know a little more about world geography, The Tallest, longest and the most climbed mountains in the world. we will be exploring major mountain ranges around the world, first we will look at the Rockies the largest mountain range in the USA. The highest point in this mountain range is Mount Elbert standing over 14,000 feet tall. Mount Elbert is found in Colorado and is one of many peaks over 12,000 feet. Second we will look at the Andes in South America noted as the longest mountain range in the world. The Andes are a volcanic range, with its highest peak Aconcagua at 22,841. The Andes have many peaks over 20,000 feet and many of these peaks are considered very difficult to climb because of glaciers, cliffs and need for ropes and harnesses. Africa has several smaller mountain ranges, including the Atlas mountains, with highest peaks over 18,000 feet. The highest peak in Africa is mount Kilimanjaro at 19,341 feet. Australia, Europe, and the middle east have mountains all under 20,000 feet. Antarctica Asia has the most mountain ranges of all continents, has 50 of the highest peaks and has the tallest mountain in the entire world the famous mount Everest at nearly 30,000 feet tall.
