Just as we have seen how INDUSTRIALIZATION helped to bring about NATIONALISM and then how both of these directly brought about the age of IMPERIALISM, we will see in our next unit that all of these will cause the world to spiral out of control and land right into what has become known as WORLD WAR I.
You can't have all these nations EXPANDING their empires without the empires eventually starting to "run into" each other. This of course is what will bring about conflict, not to mention the greed for all of those resources that each nation is wanting to feed their industrial economy!
Ironically enough, the name people called this war at the time was "The War to End All Wars."
We will see that the name was so wrong in so many ways.
