Conclusion

DAY FIVE:   The class will watch the play. (A little popcorn and juice will hit the spot and make the experience end with a bang!)

AFTER THE PLAY - The groups will come back together to discuss the book and what goes in to making a book, illustrating it, and even making a "play" about it. The importance of good grammar, spelling, structure, artistic ability, and technology are all needed to be able to complete this task. The class determines what could have been done better and what was successful. Students will write down their groups successes and failures while doing their activity. Other groups will be able to weigh in on what they would have done if in another group. Suggestions and evaluations are how you will grow and learn from this activity. Ask yourself; What can be learned from this experience? How can you make it better? What was forgotten/left out that you should have included? What was the most fun? How did your members work together?

~You have learned how to write, illustrate, and create a play. This experience will enhance your skills as a reader.

~You will no longer look at a book the same way. You will think about what it takes to make a great children's book. what kind of writing style does the author have? Did they have a theme?

~You will appreciate what all an author, illustrator, director goes through to make their work of art. You will see a play or an illustration and appreciate it more. You will have insight that others won't have.

~You will be smarter for participating in the activity...

...and maybe, just maybe, you will aspire to become an author, illustrator, or director/actor because of this experience!
