What you have learned:

Your teacher WILL have you do reports!

A Search Engine is NOT a part of a train, it is:

a computer program that searches documents, especially on the World Wide Web, for a specified  word or words and provides a list of documents in which they are found (Dictionary.com, 2012).

The World Wide Web is a very big place

When choosing a topic for a report identify KEY WORDS in your topic to search on the web. If your topic is too broad (general) then you will have too much information. If it is too narrow, you will not have enough information (Noodletools, 2012).

Your topic should be specific

Ask: Who? What? Where? When? Why? Questions and think of key words relavant to your topic to enter into your seach engine (Mattson, 2005).

Search on safe and reliable sites

When you have the key words enter them in your search engine. Some safe and reliable search engines to use are:

1.)    Yahooligans - http://kids.yahoo.com

2.)    Kids Click - http://www.kidsclick.org/clickback.html

3.)    Ask Kids - http://www.askkids.com

4.)    MSN Encarta - http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/features/dictionary/DictionaryHome.aspx

5.)    Boolify - http://www.boolify.org/index.php

6.)    Quintura - http://quinturakids.com (Mario, 2011)

Searching is half the fun: life is much more manageable when thought of as a scavenger hunt as opposed to a surprise party (Buffett, b.1946).
