Weather vs. Climate

Everyday we can watch the news and the weatherman will give his forecast for the week.  Usually the forecast is accurate, however sometimes it is not.  Weather is difficult to predict and scientists are still working on better ways to forecast weather.

 Here are some questions to think about now that you know the difference between weather and climate:

• Why is important for people to know what the weather will be like tomorrow, or a week from now?

• Why would it be important to know the climate of a particular area?

• What effect does climate have on the surrounding environment?

• How can scientist use climate to predict future weather patterns?

• There is a lot of controversy around climate change through "Global Warming".  Based on what you have learned in this WebQuest why do you think that some scientist can't agree on whether or not our climate is changing?

• Can our actions affect weather and climate?
