Cyber bullying prevention starts with parents.  If your kids go out and play in cyberspace you need to give them the rules, guidelines, and safety equipment to keep them safe.  The key is to get involved in your childs use of technology.  You need to know where your kids are going in cyberspace, take the time to monitor your childs computer use and know the places that they are frequently viewing or visiting.  If your child has a Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or any other account you also need to have an account. Parents need to know all of the login and password information and make sure that it is saved or documented in case you need it in an emergency.  Make sure the login and passwords are not shared with anyone other than you.  Make sure that you are establishing a good trust relationship with your child.  In most cases if your child trusts you and you take time to listen to them when they want to talk the trust relationship will grow.  Help them create their profile or pages, be involved with them when they are on the computer chatting, texting, emailing and viewing different things.  Make sure that you know their cyber friends and those that they are making contact with on a frequent basis.  Talk with you kids about cyber bullying and if they have ever experienced it, seen it or if they have ever done it to someone.

Parents need to be the educator when it comes to cyber bullying.  If you child is playing in cyber space they need to be educated on cyber bullying.  You need to show them examples, share stories, visit informational websites about the subject, show and help them understand that it is real, and that if they do not protect themselves that they can become a victim or a cyber bully.  If you are a parent and you have kids that play in cyberspace you need to take the stand and educate yourself and your kids about the increasing dangers of cyber bullying.
